Diamonds are the hardest substance known to man. Their brilliance and durability have made them the 'ultimate gift of love.'
Although many people think of diamonds being white, they come in a wide spectrum of colours including pink, yellow, blue, orange, champagne and cognac, and many hues in between.
Diamonds are hard to scratch and are often assumed to be indestructible. This is not correct. Diamonds are formed with 'cleavage planes' and they may fracture after a sharp blow to a vulnerable point.
Linneys presents a magnificent collection of classic white diamonds. Available in a wide range of shapes and sizes these amazing stones are perfect for the classic engagement ring or a beautiful gift of love.
Round brilliant and oval-cut diamonds are less likely to chip or break than marquise, pear and emerald-cut stones, which should be carefully protected within the jewellery setting. Linneys white diamond collection features stones in an extensive range of colours and clarities which are set in white or yellow gold.
More than twenty percent, by weight, of the total annual production of diamonds in the world comes from the Argyle diamond mine in the rugged Carr Boyd ranges in Western Australia’s remote Kimberley region. The Argyle mine does produce white diamonds but is particularly renowned for its many fancy colours; notably champagne, cognac and the most highly prized and rarest of all, pink. Linneys is a Select Atelier for Argyle pink diamonds, carrying a fine collection of loose pink diamonds as well as jewellery pieces featuring these special diamonds.
Recovered from the Kimberley Diamond Company's Ellendale mine in the far north of Western Australia in limited quantities, fancy yellow diamonds are well regarded by collectors for their special colours. The production of these gems from the Ellendale mine in the West Kimberley region commenced in 2002.
Available exclusively in Western Australia at Linneys, Royal Asscher Cut diamonds are renowned for combining century old traditions of diamond polishing with modern technology. Featuring 74 precisely placed facets, the Royal Asscher Cut is arranged to pull light deep into the stone, creating a mesmerising spiral effect. The achievement of perfect symmetry in the cut and the flawless finish are hallmarks of Royal Asscher diamonds. Making its debut in 2001, after years of perfecting by the Asscher Diamond Company, this unique diamond became the 21st century successor to the signature Asscher Cut.
