The Story of Linneys

Spanning three decades, the story of Linneys involves two remarkable men, Alan Linney in Perth and Bill Reed in Broome working together to create authentic Western Australian jewellery with international appeal.

Alan Linney commenced his jewellery apprenticeship in the 1960s, opening his first studio in 1972 and soon establishing a trademark style of visually-arresting, handcrafted jewellery inspired by organic forms. Marine biologist, Bill Reed arrived in Perth from Broome in 1978 with a challenge for Perth's jewellers: create original jewellery using South Sea pearls from Broome. Not surprisingly Alan easily won the competition with his imaginative work.

This was the beginning of a long and creative partnership which set new standards for jewellery in WA and to this day Alan and Bill remain enchanted by the special qualities of the pearl.
