The Jewelled Dragon is a unique masterpiece honouring the Chinese mythical dragon, the most revered animal in ancient eastern culture.
Crafted from 24ct yellow gold and weighing 10 troy ounce, the stunning coin is surmounted by a three-dimensional portrayal of the highly symbolic animal. Its serpentine body and sinuous limbs are adorned with 117 meticulously hand-set Argyle pink diamonds representing scales, of which 81 symbolise ‘yang’ and 36 represent ‘yin’. The coin features round brilliant cut Argyle pink diamonds equalling approximately 0.73ct pave set along the dragon as well as 0.005ct round brilliant cut Muzo emerald bead set in the eye of the dragon.
The other side of the coin has the 2019 date and the Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll and the monetary domination of $2000. The diamonds were unearthed at The Argyle Diamond Mine in the East Kimberley Region of Western Australia.
