Diamond Cut

The cut of a diamond is perhaps amongst the most important considerations when choosing your ideal stone. It not only influences the rings overall aesthetic, but the way it interacts with light.

The RBC

Round Brilliant cut is arguably the most popular diamond cut. It is the only cut strictly monitored by the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) and has 57 or 58 facets, the most of any conventional diamond cut. Because of its faceting the Round Brilliant has extraordinary sparkle and light return, perhaps explaining its popularity in the modern engagement ring.

Emerald, Baguette and Asscher

Emerald, Baguette and Asscher cut diamonds all feature distinct stepped faceting.  Their structured and architectural appearance made them popular in the Art Deco period of fashion. These cuts are often used to evoke a sense of vintage and glamour, but paired with contemporary ring designs make an outstanding modern statement. Because of their stepped faceting, these cuts return light in a very different manner.

Other Fancy Cuts

Other diamond cuts include, but are not limited to Oval, Cushion, Radiant, Pear, Princess and Marquise. The Princess cut, a square shape with pointed corners, has experienced high popularity over the last decade. More recent trends have seen an increased interest in Radiant cut diamonds and Pear cut diamonds. These cuts are often brighter in sparkle than Emerald and Baguettes, but offer a very different aesthetic.
