CELEBRATING MOTHERHOOD: AN INTERVIEW CATRIONA LINNEY
In celebration of Mother’s Day, we caught up with Catriona Linney - mum of two beautiful children, business consultant, and wife to our Creative Director, Justin Linney – to talk all things motherhood. From embracing the chaos to finding beauty in small moments, Catriona opens up about life with little ones and the jewellery pieces that hold a special place in her heart.
How has becoming a mother shaped who you are today?
Motherhood has completely reshaped my sense of self, my priorities and my perspective on almost everything. While it comes with its challenges, it has turned up the joy in my life more than I could have ever imagined.
What do you love most about being a mum?
Without a doubt, one of the most meaningful parts of motherhood is watching my children’s personalities unfold as they grow. They change a little each day - and seeing them be curious and seek joy is so rewarding. Also (I feel like no one really told me this before becoming a Mum) they’re genuinely hilarious - my daughter makes me laugh like no one else can.
Life with two little ones can be a juggle — how do you manage the balance between work, family, and everything in between?
Most days, I feel like I don’t have it figured out. I try to let go of the idea that balance means giving equal time to everything and instead aim to be present and intentional with whatever I’m focusing on in the moment. Juggling everyone’s needs feels more like a rhythm than a formula - some days lean toward home, others toward work. You won’t always get it right, and that’s okay.
As an active mum, what are your go-to jewellery pieces for everyday wear?
I gravitate toward pieces I can wear with anything, no matter where I’m headed. I’m never without my yellow diamond engagement ring, diamond huggie earrings and pear-shaped studs. On my right hand, I wear a yellow and white diamond ring, set with a mix of offset stone shapes. It’s especially meaningful because Justin designed it and handpicked the diamonds for my first Mother’s Day gift after our daughter was born. I also never go anywhere without my ‘C’ initial diamond necklace, which feels like a little piece of me.

What are your favourite jewellery pieces to wear to the office?
For the office, I’ll often add a tennis bracelet and a floating pearl necklace - especially since my son isn’t around to tug on the chain! I also like to include a piece like the Sundance ring in a freeform style that I wouldn’t typically wear at home.

What is the ultimate splurge piece on your wishlist?
The Moonlight ring has completely captured my heart. The combination of yellow gold, baroque pearl, and colored stones in an organic style means no two rings are the same. It’s also smaller than a statement cocktail ring, so it’s something I can wear both to work and out with friends.

Finally, do you have any words of wisdom for other mums this Mother’s Day?
There may be days when you feel like you’re not doing enough - when you’re tired, overwhelmed, or unsure - but you are exactly what your children need. Try not to compare yourself or your children to others; it only distracts you from trusting your own intuition.
