Each Linneys diamond is hand selected by our certified diamond specialists. Our rigorous quality control is set high above the industry standard, and each diamond is graded using a system devised by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) who are recognised as the foremost international diamond authority. This system, referred to as the 4 C’s (Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat), is designed to help you make more informed decisions on your diamond purchase.

Why are diamonds so valuable?

Diamonds are one of the most admired stones on planet Earth, and have been one of the most sought after jewels for thousands of years. Formed billions of years ago, diamonds are extremely rare and are only correctly handled by skilled experts.

Incredibly powerful forces are required to create diamonds. Taking place in the depths of the Earth’s crust at unimaginable temperatures and pressures, the diamond retrieval and protection process is very difficult, and therefore, renders diamonds as extremely rare.

From the diamonds that are mined today, approximately 50% are thought to be of a high enough quality to be sold on the diamond market.
